Glenn Crytzer
AND HIS FAMOUS ORCHESTRA
- The Artistry of the Swing Era, Brought To Life. -

The Glenn Crytzer Orchestra provides New York's most authentic and entertaining music from the Jazz Age and Swing Era.
Their music has appeared in dozens of TV shows, ad campaigns, and films for Disney, ABC, and more. In 2017 they were named "Best Group" in the NYC Jazz Awards.
The GCO has delighted audiences at Lincoln Center, Kingsborough College, the Glen Echo Ballroom, the Sidney and Berne Davis Arts Center, Ocean County College, and many more.

"The Glenn Crytzer Orchestra played at On Stage At Kingsborough's HOT SUMMER NIGHTS free outdoor concert series on July 2nd and absolutely wowed the crowd! Glenn put together a truly remarkable program of patriotic and all-American swing tunes, with guest lindy-hoppers, that made for a very exciting evening. The musicians were truly outstanding and the packed audience enjoyed until the very last number."

Our series follows a pretty consistent pattern of top traditional/swing/hot jazz players coming down to NJ to play "theme" concerts: tributes to Bix, Benny, Louis, etc.. I approached Glenn Crytzer and would have been happy if he cobbled together some friends to jam on the "good old good ones" but Glenn had a more ambitious idea: he wanted to play compositions by living musicians. He rehearsed the band and put on one of the most memorable concerts in the history of MidWeek Jazz. In the weeks leading up to it, I continually referred to it as an "important" concert as I don't think anything like it has ever been done anywhere by anyone. So I cannot thank Glenn enough for the original idea and the hard work and dedication he put in to pull it off. Can't recommend this group enough!

The band was terrific! They kept our dancers on the floor from their first note til the last.

"Their performance was entertaining and engaging, and attendees thoroughly enjoyed themselves. I had multiple patrons come up to after the show had ended to let me know how much they enjoyed it. I would love to have them back!"

Stage Show
In addition to presenting "serious jazz concerts" the GCO works with some of the world's top vintage style dancers including professional Lindy Hoppers, Tap Dancers, and Jazz Dancers to create a full on stage-show experience that comes straight from the Swing Era. Unlike acts that use Broadway musicians and dancers to create a novelty throw-back experience, the GCO and the world class dancers we partner with present performances that are entertaining while remaining authentic to period and deeply artistic.
The Glenn Crytzer Orchestra
The Glenn Crytzer Orchestra is the world's premiere Swing Era big band. Comparable to what the classical world calls an "early music ensemble" the 17 piece band of regular musicians focuses on authentic performance of charts ranging from the mid 1920s through the mid 1940s, (Ellington, Miller, Shaw, Basie, Goodman, etc.) each of which is meticulously transcribed and edited by Glenn. But more than just a repertory group, the GCO performs and records new music composed and arranged in the vintage style by bandleader Glenn Crytzer as well as by other living songwriters. The GCO is absolutely unique in today's jazz world, and was named "Best Group" in the 2017 NYC Jazz Awards.
Small Groups
If the full GCO is not within your organization's budget, book the Savoy Seven, Glenn's 7 piece swing combo. The Savoy Seven perform the small group jazz of the late 1930s and early 1940s with charts that include the music of Fats Waller, Benny Goodman, Sidney Bechet, etc. as well as Glenn's original music.
For smaller outdoor events where a piano is not available, book Glenn Crytzer's New Yorkers. The New Yorkers are a 6 piece group with trumpet, saxophone, two guitars, bass, and drums, modeled after Lester Young's 1930s group, The Kansas City Six.
For very small venues or venues with a minimal budget book the Glenn Crytzer All Stars, a quartet consisting of trumpet, clarinet, guitar, and string bass with the option to add vocal, piano, or trombone to augment to a quintet.
